Man Threatens Lawsuit Against Quinte OPP Officers
A Quinte West resident is accusing some local OPP officers of doctoring evidence and lying in a vendetta against him. Guy Brummell, formerly of the Rednersville Road, told the Quinte West Police board yesterday civil lawsuits are coming against the OPP, the City of Quinte West, Prince Edward County, Ontario Hydro, and the attorney general’s office. Brummell was referring to several years of incidents, which led to him serving time for mortgage fraud. Brummell said it will likely be one of the biggest lawsuits ever in Ontario. Guy Brummell alleges members of Quinte West OPP stole close to 200 thousand dollars in cash and a rolex watch from his home in 2006, and masterminded a cover-up. He also alleges OPP officers in Prince Edward County were terrorizing his family, starting in 2005. The OPP professional standards branch is now investigating 10 police officers.

I too am bringing a lawsuit against the (Kawartha Lakes) OPP, the officers involved, gov’t of Ontario for negligent investigation. I was charged with possession and distribution of child porn, based only on the accusations made by my daughter who has a history of laying charges of a similar nature and found to lying. The police had no proof and the other person who my daughter charged submitted evidence (to my lawyer who then submitted it to the OPP and notified the crown) used in his case to clear him to prove my innocence. The OPP knew this individual had taken the photo of my daughter and yet made no attempt to talk to him or others that were in the photo. My family and I have been ruined financially and emotionally. Not only do we have thousands of dollars in legal fees, but we lost our business as well. When the charges were withdrawn our computers were to be returned within one week five weeks later they still were not returned by the KL OPP until our lawyer fired off a letter to the crown within two days they were returned. Due to my name being published and broadcast in the news and the embarasment caused we would like to leave the area but can’t due to the financial devastation this has caused us. We also feel like targets for the OPP. Really sad since my husbands father was an OPP officer before the OPP became the equivalent of the GESTAPO.
