Literacy funding for Quinte

Posted on Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Provincial money has come in the nick of time for Quinte region literacy groups.

The provincial government today announced $1.4 (m) million dollars to improve all sorts of literacy in the region.

The Prince Edward Learning Centre in Picton will receive a top-up, which will make their funding equivalent to $239,000.

Executive Director, Linda Conley, says they’ve been waiting a long time for more funding.

Conley says the money means now the groups can focus on literacy work instead of fund raising.

Loyalist College is the biggest recipient with $859,000.

$169,000 is going to the Quinte Literacy Group and $150,000 is going to the Quinte Adult Day School.
