Brighton man doesn’t want environmental assessment done for possible Prince Edward Street railway underpass
A Brighton man is already planning action if an environmental assessment is filed for a new railway underpass on Prince Edward Street.
The proposal is to build a 38-million-dollar structure, but Northumberland County can’t afford it, and would need railway and other funding.
But Peter Alker says using the unopened John Street road allowance to build a bridge over the rail lines would cost one third that amount.
He says he will take the issue to the Environment Minister, and ask for a more intense study, if the environmental assessment report to go ahead with the project on Prince Edward Street is filed with the ministry.

Welcome to Brighton, where no one on city council really cares about using common sense. It seems if there is a stupid idea, they all just jump on it and won’t change their minds no matter how ridiculous it is. Perhaps with spending all this extra money they can all get another big raise. Keep up the good work Brighton, that’s why I moved to Belleville.
