Humboldt tragedy in Saskatoon is felt close to home as well as the Nation

On Friday afternoon, the Broncos junior hockey team of Humboldt, Sask., were en route to a playoff game in Nipawin. Twenty-nine people were on board the team bus. At the intersection of Highway 35 and Highway 335, about 300 kilometres north of Regina, the bus collided with a tractor-trailer which claimed the lives of 15 of those on board.

Another fourteen were injured.

The intersection outside Tisdale, Sask., had been the site of another collision 21 years ago that killed six people.

Geordie Maynard joins Sean Kelly and Orlena Cain of Mix97 to speak about his time in the OHL and the grief that has stricken the country.

In Quinte West, more than 200 people gathered at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens in Trenton to come together and show support for the Humboldt community.

A tribute video displayed photos of the players while dignitaries offered words of solidarity and support.

Organizer Tracey Legault-Davis joined Sean and Orlena this morning
