Find out how much energy your appliances are wasting
Frigidaire was kind enough to make an energy comparison chart on their new website (www.frigidaire.ca). You may be surprised to know how much money you are burning every month.

Recharge your Plasma TV!!!!
This is one of those things that we sales people hear on a regular basis. Sometimes a customer will come into the store, looking for a new TV, but when presented with the option of a plasma TV, advises us that you need to get them recharged every couple years. This is a line that is typically fed to them by a friend or family member who is misinformed or miseducated by another friend or family member, and so on. Needless to say, you NEVER need to get a plasma TV recharged… EVER!!
Over the years I have heard many other tales. A couple purchased a beautiful LCD TV from me and when asked if they were going to mount the TV on the wall, they advised that they can’t. A friend told them that if they put the mounting bolt too far into the back of the TV, it could puncture the screen and cause all the liquid from the liquid crystal display to run out. I then advised them that the screws would only go in so far and the TV could never leak on their floors.
However, my personal favourite was when a gentleman came in and wanted to purchase a tube TV. I advised him that we haven’t been able to purchase tube TV’s for about 2 years. We then proceeded to look at flat screen TV’s when he warned me of the health problems people can have from Plasma and LCD TV’s. A friend of his aparently read that flat screen TV’s have been shown to cause cancer in lab mice. After much research, we still haven’t found an article to back up his statement, nor has the Canadian Cancer Society ever warned of this happening.
These fables make us smile from time to time as we hear them, I hope they made you smile too.

Smooth-top range frequently asked questions
There have been many people over the years with questions regarding their new smooth top range. Here are a few from Frigidaire’s FAQ section
-
What is the easies method to keep my smoothtop glass clean?
For light to moderate soil:
Apply a few drops of CookTop® Cleaning Creme directly to the soiled area. Rub the soiled area using a 3M Scotch-Brite® Blue Multi-Purpose No Scratch Scrub Sponge to clean the entire cooktop surface. Make sure the cooktop is cleaned thoroughly, leaving no residue.
For heavy, burned on soil:
Apply a few drops of CookTop® Cleaning Creme directly to the soiled area. Rub the soiled area using a 3M Scotch-Brite® Blue Multi-Purpose No Scratch Scrub Sponge, applying pressure as needed. Do not use the sponge you use to clean the cooktop for any other purpose. If soils remain, carefully scrape soils with a metal razor blade scraper, holding scraper at a 30 degree angle to the surface. Remove loosened soils with the cooktop cleaning cream and buff surface clean. Caution: Damage to the ceramic glass cooktop may occur if you use any scrub pad other than a 3M Scotch-Brite® Blue Multi-Purpose No Scratch Scrub Sponge.

On my glass or ceramic top range the food takes a long time to cook and it takes too long to boil water. The burners seem to cycle off very frequently during use.
Make sure the cookware is flat and smooth.
On glass or ceramic top ranges the cookware must be absolutely flat and smooth on the bottom. There should be not grooves, ridges, or embossed designs. If the pan is not flat it will not conduct the heat from the burner to the food inside and the glass top will overheat. This can cause the temperature limiter on the burner to turn the burner off to protect the glass cooktop from damage.

When I used my oven for the first time there was an odor and some smoking.
It is possible to experience some odors, and/or a small amount of smoke from your new range.
This is generally from the fiberglass insulation that contains a binding agent to hold it together. The odor will diminish after first using your oven. Before cooking in your oven for the first time, we recommend that you turn the oven ON at 400° degrees for 30 minutes. This will allow for an initial burn-in period. You can also add extra room ventilation by opening a window.
