The Alzheimer Society of Belleville-Hastings-Quinte SPRING BOOK SALE continues Wed May 7th (Half Price Day) and Thur May 8th (Toonie-a-Bag Day) from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm in the main concourse of Bay View Mall in Belleville. Movies & CD's too.

Breadner Elementary invites you to come and enjoy the production “Seussical”, the musical based on works of Dr. Seuss.  More than 100 students from Senior Kindergarten to grade 8 will be singing and dancing in this musical production. The 20th Annual M&M Meat shops Charity BBQ is Sat May 10th between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., you’ll receive a hamburger or hot dog, a drink and a bag of chips for a minimum donation of $2.50 with proceeds to the Crohns & Collitis Foundation.

The Stirling Lions Club is serving a full breakfast at the Lions Hall over the arena on Sat May 10th from 7a to11a. The breakfast will include ham, sausage, eggs, toast, homefries, coffee and juice. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under

The first “Walk A Block for Lupus” is Sat May 10th in Centennial Park in Trenton. Registration and sign up is at the Pavillion at 12noon and the walk begins at 1p sharp. Everyone is welcome. The Bloomfield Hallowell Recreation Committee fishing derby is Sat May 10th for children and their families on Mill Pond in Bloomfield. The event will run from 9 am to 12noon, with registration Sat morning. There is a minimal $2 fee for children 12 and under. The young anglers are asked to bring their fishing gear and gadgets however bait will be provided. As well, officers from the Prince Edward County OPP Detachment will be in attendance, and there will be prizes for everyone, including trophies for the longest, shortest and funniest catch. Get a head start on Mother's Day at the Auxiliary to Cambellford Memorial Hospital Garden Tent Sale Sat May 10th at Christ Church, Kent Street, Campbellford from 9a to 3p.   The Auxiliary is also hosting its annual Geranium Tea at Christ Church, in Jenkins Hall, from noon until 3p.  Cost is $6, and features sandwiches, tea and treats, with a potted bloom to take home. Proceeds from both events go toward the purchase of a BMD machine for our hospital.

Everyone is welcome at the Belleville Public Library for this month’s History Series “Celebrating Community Heritage” on Tues May 13th for a presentation by Mike Papper of the Quinte Amateur Radio Club. Come and find out why this Club has been around for over 60 years and see if this fun hobby is for you! The program runs from 1:30 – 2:30 pm at the John M. Parrott Art Gallery on the third floor of the library. Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Coffee and tea will be available.

The Canada Day Fireworks Committee of Madoc is hosting a Music Video dance Party Sat May 24th in the Madoc Arena from 7:30p to 11:30p.  This is an all age event.
The Picton Pirates Jr “C” hockey team fundraising golf tournament is Sat May 24th at the Picton Golf & Country Club. The cost is $90 each which included 18 holes, ½ a cart & a strip loin dinner at the Heritage Hall. There is a tremendous Hole in One prize of at least $2,000 (sponsored by Picton Home Hardware!!) The 6th Annual Monkfest 2008 "The Music Event" part of Project We Care is Sat May 24th and Sun May 25th at the Madoc Fairgrounds, Hwy # 7 Madoc with over 20 Bands playing! This is a "no booze, no drugs, no hate, no campfires and no co-ed unless your wed" overnight music festival. There will be lots of Christian Music and main stream music all with no bad language or messages. Food available to purchase on site. This is a Fund raising event for Foundations Youth Centres. Cost $10 under 18 need parental signature and under 16 need to come with an adult, registration required.
